It is a wonderful thing to be able to be a part of a wedding – to catch a glimpse or two of a couple on the day they make a very real and lasting commitment to one another. I have had the pleasure to know brides Katherine & Adilia for some time and it was an honor to make their wedding cake and be a part of their wedding day. The wedding & reception were on beautiful Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Their ideas for the cake were well-defined from the very start and I was thrilled to be able to bring in elements of nature and the bird-theme for this cake. What a great wedding and congratulations to two beautiful women!

Every wedding and event brings both new challenges and the opportunity to grow creatively. Working with the James family was a unique pleasure as they are a self-described cake-loving family. From the first meeting to the final moments on the wedding day, it was pure joy for me to be able to bring the vision of the bride to fruition. This cake was inspired by her exquisite gown and was the centerpiece to a wonderful wedding. An “Endless Cake Buffet” was created with an additional five different cake types to be sure the family and guests could have all the cake they could want. It was a wedding I will not soon forget!
This “Twilight”-inspired cake was made for one of my returning clients whose requests never fail to challenge, motivate and encourage me creatively. This was interesting to me for the unique elements – the apple, the chess pieces and all the other cues from the Twilight series. I look forward to the next opportunity to work with this wonderful client!
One of the very best parts of designing cakes for weddings is to be able to take ideas from elements of the wedding to design the cake of the couples’ dreams. In this case, the Bride & Groom wanted to incorporate the damask pattern from the invitation and use it on the cake. A particular challenge, but one I was happy to take on. The pattern on the cake is hand-painted orange and hot pink on white fondant.
This three-tier cake was inspired by the
recipient’s love of the story of Rapunzel and the recent movie “Tangled”. Figures from the movie were added on-site.
This cake was requested by a very creative and original Bride. She made her own wedding dress, in an emerald green color, and was fortunate to have a beautiful day for her outdoor wedding in November (no small feat for this time of year in Parkersburg, West Virginia!).
The cake was chocolate with a hazelnut-chocolate filling. The cake was draped in ivory and chocolate fondant with handmade chocolate roses on top and tucked into the pleats.
This was a joy to make and deliver for this special wedding celebration!

Hand-painted sugar flowers and moss green quilling wrap around the pale yellow fondant of this centerpiece cake.
This cake is very special to me as it is for a very special little guy who has serious allergies to eggs and nuts. I make an egg and nut-free chocolate cake with chocolate frosting for he and his family whenever an occasion arises! This cake had cupcakes along with which were brightly colored buttercream with small replicas of three of the Thomas & Friends trains. Happy Birthday Liam!
This cake was pure fun to make! It was a fondant caterpillar cake for a sweet little girl’s first birthday. The smash cake was a jumbo cupcake with a hand-painted fondant butterfly. Coordinating cupcakes were made with vanilla buttercream frosting and fondant fruit from the ever popular Eric Carle book.

Bride-to-be Angela wanted a cake that would make a statement and be different than any she had seen before. The paisley-shaped cakes were a perfect choice and accentuated the graceful lines of the cake topper. The layers were strawberry cake with a fresh strawberry and vanilla buttercream filling, chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache filling and Piña Colada cake with coconut cream filling.
It was a terrific wedding and I was so happy to be a part of it!
